1897
George Weston built a state of the art Model Bakery in Toronto.

Whether as plant workers, sales people or corporate executives, the hard work of these men and women turned George's Toronto bakery into a national manufacturer of bread, biscuits and confectionaries.

1899
Founded in 1899 in Richmond, Virginia, Interbake Foods was originally known as Southern Biscuit Works, a regional baking company that packaged its baked goods in decorative tins under the trademark of "FFV", which stood for "Famous Foods of Virginia".

1928
George's son Garfield
Weston incorporated
George Weston Limited
under the Dominion charter
and soon sold shares in
the family's bread and
biscuit company on the
Toronto Stock Exchange.

1945
NDS mark's the invention of the automated Ice Cream Sandwich filling system.

1947
NDS broadened automated cone baking capabilities across the US

1955
NDS designed and built automated filling systems for frozen novelty cones, cups & push tubes.

1967
Maplehurst Bakeries, Inc. began frozen donut manufacturing operations with just three employees and one truck.

Interbake Foods was created in 1967 when George Weston merged its other US-based bakery purchases to create the Interbake name. Under George Weston Limited, Interbake Foods grew and expanded its portfolio to include Girl Scout cookies; cookies, crackers and specialty items for retail and contract customers.

1970
The bread and biscuit company
proved to be the leader in its
industry and reorganized into two
separate divisions. This formed a
new subsidiary company of George
Weston Limited known as Weston
Foods.

1985
After years of growth and
change, including the sale of
the biscuit and confectionary
division, Weston Foods
announced the addition of
the frozen bakery division,
Ready Bake.

1988
Weston Bakeries was the
official bread supplier to the
1988 Olympic Winter Games in
Calgary building on its Olympic
history as the official bread
supplier to the 1976 Olympic
Summer Games in Montreal.

1992
Ready Bake Food, Inc., a subsidiary of George Weston Limited, acquired Maplehurst to further enhance its product lines and to gain entry into the U.S. market.

1994
Maplehurst opened a state-of-the-art facility in Brownsburg, Indiana. Since that time, both Carrollton and Brownsburg facilities have undergone major renovation and expansion projects to meet the increasing demand for Maplehurst products.

1998
Maplehurst acquired Plush Pippin Pies from Nabisco, giving Maplehurst capacity for pie production.

2000
Interbake Foods acquired Norse Dairy Systems, thus bringing the two frozen novelty companies together.

2003
Weston purchased Best Foods integrating the frozen distribution portion of that business into the Maplehurst network which included sales of the Thomas' and Entenmann's brands.

2007
Weston Bakeries had a
national celebration to
commemorate its 125th
year of operation.

2011
Weston Foods acquires Annette's Donuts that becomes part of our Ready Bake Division.

Weston Foods acquires Colonial Cookies that becomes part of our Interbake Division.

2012
On October 29th, 2012, Interbake Foods becomes the official licensed baker of Mrs. Fields pre-packaged cookies sold at retailers throughout North America.

2013
Weston Foods opens its first Gluten Free facility in Toronto.

ACE Bakery celebrates 20 years of artisan baking

ACE Bakery launches its first US bakery in Gaffney, S.C.

2014
In May 5, 2014 Weston Foods acquired Rubschlager Baking Company located in Chicago, Illinois, USA, now owned and operated through Maplehurst Bakeries.

Founded in Chicago in 1913 by the Fred Rubschlager, Rubschlager has a 100 year history of baking a full range of authentic, high-quality rye breads and products for the North American market.

On March 31, 2014, ACE acquired Mememe Inc. (Marcy's), a Canadian, privately owned company which produces and sells artisanal croutons, crisps and stuffing, both branded and private label.
